Guidance for Transferring Students
Guidance and Adjustment Period for Entering Students:
In addition to regular admissions, 5IN welcomes transfer students within 3 weeks after a semester begins. We have a structured process to support both incoming and outgoing students.
Due to differences in philosophy, goals, and teaching methods between 5IN and other educational institutions, new transfer students may face challenges, particularly those transferring beyond Grade 7. The interview during the application process helps us quickly understand the needs of the new students. Furthermore, the homeroom teachers will discuss and provide feedback to the new students in their class and collaboratively develop an individualized educational plan to help each of them catch up with the class. This information will also be clearly communicated to the new student’s parents/guardians.
For students who join 5IN before the beginning of a semester, a plan will be created to provide supplementary lessons and consultation with the homeroom teachers during the week prior to the new semester.
When new students join 5IN, they will have a 5-day adjustment (trial) period. During this time, both the institution and the student will observe each other. If it is determined that the institution is not a suitable fit, the institution will assist the student in finding and transferring to an appropriate educational unit. If necessary, 5IN’s partner institutions such as 陪伴者實驗教育機構 or 展賦行動學苑 may also provide additional support.
To ensure that students adapt to the institution’s learning style and receive career exploration support, regular one-on-one meetings with the homeroom teachers (at least once a month) will be conducted. Additionally, there will be at least one parent-teacher-student consultation per semester. If the student requires more specialized guidance or psychological counseling resources, the institution will seek assistance from partner institutions.
Guidance for Withdrawing Students
Upon receiving a request to transfer out of 5IN, we will first arrange a parent-teacher-student consultation to understand the reasons for the transfer and provide the necessary support and assistance. For the school the student is transferring to, we will proactively supply relevant counseling information, grade conversions (on a 0-100 scale or using letter grades), and learning history records. These materials aim to assist the receiving school and ensure the student transitions smoothly into the new learning environment. Additionally, we will continue to follow up with the student and provide assistance if necessary.
If, after multiple parent-teacher-student consultations and counseling support provided by partner institutions such as the 陪伴者實驗教育機構 or 展賦行動學苑, the student remains unwilling to cooperate with the institution’s educational approach or engages in inappropriate behavior that affects the rights of other students, the institution will guide the student through the outbound transfer process.
